The motorcycle of the future
A few years ago, Mark Seeger wanted an electric motorcycle that "was worth talking about." When he couldn't find what he wanted, he decided to build it.
He founded Mission Motorcycles in 2010 with a lofty goal: To replace all traditional gas engines -- everywhere -- with electric ones.
The company manufacturers electric and hybrid engines right in San Francisco -- both for its own motorcycles and for other companies. It provides sports car, motorcycle and luxury boat companies with parts and engines. The products are in such demand Seeger is building another factory in the Bay Area.
Seeger said being in business in San Francisco was a must for Mission Motorcycles.
"The people that we need to design and to build are here," he said. "I need a lot of really specialized people."
